Finally, Some Sean News...

Hallo. Just wanted to post these two news items. It seems Sean keeps out of the spot light. I nearly freaked when my mom told be he had surgery. Not to fear, he is fine but when the words Sean Connery and hospital were mentioned I nearly fainted.

Also, not sure if you all know this, he has his own website. Check it out. It's nice and he's just adorable. But you all knew that anyway. ;)

LOS ANGELES -- Sean Connery is suing a country club for allegedly using his "worldwide celebrity" to fatten its reputation and refusing to pay money owed him after he ended his membership.

Connery is seeking more than $500,000 for breach of contract and more than $500,000 for "unjust enrichment" from the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, according to a lawsuit filed Monday in Superior Court.

The suit claims the golf club was aware of the actor's lucrative status as an "internationally renowned celebrity and famously avid golfer" when it invited him to join in 1990 at a special initiation fee of $35,000.

His celebrity boosted the club's value and attracted new members, the suit states.

In 2004, Connery terminated his membership. But according to the lawsuit, Connery's contract allowed him to collect 80 percent of the "going rate" of membership — more than $500,000 — which the club has refused to pay.

"The lawsuit was not our first choice," Connery's attorney Louis "Skip" Miller said Tuesday. "But they won't honor their obligations, so we had no choice but to file."

Club membership manager Karen Jacobs declined to comment on the lawsuit Tuesday.

Connery, 75, who won an Oscar in 1988 for "The Untouchables" and was knighted in 2000 by Queen Elizabeth II, has been recovering from surgery for a kidney tumor.

LONDON -- Sean Connery has undergone surgery for a kidney tumor and is recovering at his home in the Bahamas, his spokesman said Sunday.

The 75-year-old Scottish actor underwent the operation a few weeks ago in New York, spokesman James Barron said.

"He's very fit — he's 100 percent plus," Barron said of the former James Bond actor, who won a 1988 Academy Award as supporting actor for "The Untouchables." In 2000, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

Connery told The Sunday Times that he "was opened in five places."

His brother, Neil, told the newspaper that "as far as I'm led to believe, the tumor was benign. He seems to be quite upbeat about it."

Connery, an ardent Scottish nationalist, is scheduled to record a voiceover for a political program for the pro-independence Scottish National Party. He also plans to attend Tartan Day festivities in New York in April, party leader Alex Salmond said.
